Scarce set of "Around The World" by Rev. Frank Weston Sandford, noted for his impressive charisma and controversial Christian community named "Shiloh" in Durham, Maine. The journey described in this set of books is notable because it is the same journey that got him in significant trouble due to the deaths of multiple crew members after long periods without supplies.

The softcover books were printed from 1890 to 1891 in seven parts, six volumes. Volume one covers "Across America", volume two covers "Crossing The Pacific", volume three covers "My Visit to China", volume four covers "Our Mission Field In India", volume five and six cover "Through Egypt and over the Great Sea to Jaffa", and seven covers "My Visit to Palestine".

Sandford, while clearly a controversial figure, seems to still garner a certain respect and is generally not viewed in the same light as other darker figures. While his status as an autocrat is argued for in many places, it seems to me that his faith and piety were true, at least in some respect.

This will always remain an interesting and desirable set for both its religious significance, interesting history, and also for its raw scarcity in relation to those factors.
